What is Street Photography?

"There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture.  Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera.  That is the moment the photographer is creative.  Oops!  The Moment!  Once you miss it, it is gone forever.”  - henri cartier-bresson

For me, there is nothing that gives me more pleasure or is as exciting as walking the streets of New York City with camera in hand and John Coltrane on my iPhone blasting in my ears.   - garth

Below are some video clips that should give you an idea and a feel for what Street Photography is all about.  Several clips are from the excellent 90 min. video,  "Everybody Street" directed by Cheryl Dunn and produced by Cheryl Dunn and Lucy Cooper.  I highly recommend renting or purchasing this Vimeo on Demand video if you are at all interested in Street Photography and its artist practitioners,  http://everybodystreet.com

"I don’t think you can develop or learn a “way of seeing” or a “point of view.”  A “way of seeing” is who you are, how you think and how you create images.  It is something that is inside of you.  It’s how you look at the world."  - mary ellen mark
